Your data, handled with care

The privacy policy for Chills 2026.

This is our privacy policy, written in real language for real dancers. It explains what information we collect, why we need it, and exactly how we protect it. No legalese, no fine print tricks. Just clarity.

72 / The fine print, in plain sight

Your trust
is not
negotiable.

We collect only what we need, we protect it with industry-standard encryption, and we never sell it. The details follow below, written so you can actually read them.

§ 01

Information we collect

Only what we need to welcome you safely and process your ticket.

When you register for Chills or purchase a ticket, we collect your name, email address, phone number, and billing address. This is the information we need to confirm your order, send your pass, and reach you if anything about the weekend changes.

We may also collect basic device and browser information when you visit our site, such as IP address, browser type, and referring page. This helps us keep the site running smoothly and understand how dancers find us.

§ 02

How we use your information

Ticketing, communication, and making the weekend run with care.

We use your information to process ticket purchases, send order confirmations, deliver your digital pass, and communicate important updates about the weekend (schedule changes, venue details, safety notices).

We may also use your email to send post-event follow-ups or information about future Chills weekends. You can unsubscribe from non-essential emails at any time. We will never use your information to build advertising profiles or sell you things that have nothing to do with the dance floor.

§ 03

Payment processing

Stripe handles your card. We never see or store your full card number.

All payments are processed securely by Stripe, our third-party payment processor. When you enter your card details at checkout, that information goes directly to Stripe and is encrypted end to end. We never receive, store, or have access to your full card number.

Stripe is PCI DSS Level 1 certified, which is the highest level of security certification in the payments industry. For more on how Stripe protects your data, visit stripe.com/privacy.

§ 04

Data sharing

We do not sell your data. Full stop.

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to anyone. Not to advertisers, not to data brokers, not to anyone outside the immediate circle of people who need it to make the weekend happen.

We share limited information with Stripe (for payment processing) and with the venue (a door list with names for check-in on the day). Our backend infrastructure runs on Convex, which stores your account and ticket data securely. These partners only receive the minimum data required to do their job, and they are contractually bound to protect it.

§ 05

Cookies and analytics

Minimal. Functional. No tracking across the internet.

We use a small number of functional cookies to keep you signed in, remember your preferences, and make the checkout flow work. These are strictly necessary cookies, not marketing or tracking cookies.

We do not run third-party advertising trackers on our site. If we use any analytics tools, they are privacy-respecting and anonymized. We are not interested in following you around the internet. We are interested in making a good website for dancers.

§ 06

Data retention

We keep your data as long as it is useful, then we let it go.

We retain your personal information for as long as you have an active account or as needed to provide services, fulfill your ticket order, and comply with legal obligations (such as tax and financial records, which we are required to keep for a set period).

Once your data is no longer needed for any of these purposes, we securely delete or anonymize it. If you request deletion of your account, we will remove your personal data within 30 days, except where we are legally required to retain certain records.

§ 07

Your rights

Access, correct, or delete your data. California residents have additional rights under CCPA.

You have the right to access the personal information we hold about you, request corrections to anything inaccurate, and request deletion of your data. You can do any of these by writing to hello@chills.dance from the email on your ticket.

If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) gives you additional rights: the right to know what personal information we collect and how we use it, the right to request deletion, and the right to opt out of the sale of personal information (which we do not do). We do not discriminate against anyone for exercising these rights.

We will respond to all data requests within 30 days. If we need more time, we will let you know why and keep you updated.

§ 08

Children's privacy

Chills is an 18+ event. We do not knowingly collect data from minors.

Chills is strictly an 18+ weekend. You must be eighteen years of age or older on the first day of the event to attend. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under the age of 18.

If we learn that we have inadvertently collected data from a minor, we will delete it promptly. If you believe a minor has provided us with personal information, please contact us at hello@chills.dance and we will take immediate action.

§ 09

Changes to this policy

If it changes, we will tell you. No surprises.

We may update this privacy policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, our technology, or the law. When we make meaningful changes, we will notify you by email or by posting a clear notice on our site before the changes take effect.

The date at the bottom of this page always reflects the most recent revision. We encourage you to check back occasionally, but we promise never to slip in something significant without telling you first.

§ 10

Contact

Questions, data requests, and concerns all land at hello@chills.dance.

For any questions about this privacy policy, to exercise your data rights, or to raise a concern about how your information is being handled, write to hello@chills.dance from the email associated with your ticket where possible.

A real person reads that inbox. Replies come within two working days. We take every inquiry seriously and handle every request with the same care we put into the weekend itself.
